WILLIAM J. WITTE

Since joining Riley, Hewitt, Witte & Romano in 1997, Bill has served the firm in many different capacities. He has handled the majority of the plaintiffs' personal injury cases the firm has taken, including wrongful death/survivor actions and cases involving serious bodily injury. He has handled work in the areas of premises liability, vehicular negligence, workers' compensation, construction law, and commercial litigation. The majority of his time is spent defending product liability cases. He has represented manufacturers of skis, roller blades, electric scooters, revolving doors, escalators, elevators, and medical devices. Currently, Bill is working on a multi-million dollar commercial litigation matter with cases pending in state and federal courts in New Jersey and Florida.

Bill has extensive appellate experience, submitting briefs to the Superior, Commonwealth and Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He has argued before the Pennsylvania Superior Court in a line of at-will employment cases and has argued before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in a workers' compensation case.

Bill began his career working for a sole practitioner practicing in the areas of civil, criminal, and family law. He gained valuable litigation experience drafting pleadings and motions, and handling the personal injury inventory. Bill also gained trial experience handling misdemeanor criminal cases, arbitration matters, and general docket cases in many different areas.

Bill volunteers his time to the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, a private, non-profit, ecumenical organization dedicated to serving the needs of people with developmental disabilities and mental retardation. He has been an active member in the Fordham Alumni Association of Pittsburgh and has served on Fordham's Alumni National Advisory Board. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, and the Allegheny County Bar Association. Bill, his wife, Katie, and family live in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
